Appointments, fees, and insurance

Relationship Clinic offers virtual relationship therapy to clients in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, as well as in-person appointments in Thornhill. Fees, therapist availability, appointment format, and therapist matching are discussed during your complimentary consultation. Many extended health insurance plans cover psychotherapy services, and we can help you determine whether direct billing is available with your insurance provider. Receipts are provided for eligible services and can be submitted for reimbursement when applicable.

When Every Conversation Turns Into a Fight

Communication problems are one of the most common reasons couples seek therapy. The issue is rarely that partners do not care. More often, the relationship has developed a cycle where both people protect themselves: one criticizes because they feel alone, the other defends because they feel attacked, and the original need disappears under the argument.

Learning the Pattern, Not Just the Script

Therapy helps couples move beyond generic communication tips. You will look at what happens before, during, and after conflict, including body language, tone, assumptions, avoidance, repair attempts, and the emotional meaning each partner assigns to the interaction.

What Sessions May Include

Sessions may include slowing down live conversations, practicing repair, identifying triggers, clarifying needs, and creating agreements for hard topics. The goal is not to avoid every disagreement, but to handle disagreement without damaging the relationship.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about communication and conflict.

Can therapy help if we fight about everything?

Yes. Therapy focuses on the pattern underneath the topics, which is often more important than the topic itself.

Will the therapist take sides?

The therapist works to understand the cycle and support both partners in creating safer communication.

What if one of us shuts down during conflict?

Many couples fall into a pattern where one partner pursues while the other withdraws. Therapy helps both partners understand these patterns and develop healthier ways of expressing needs, managing emotions, and staying connected during difficult conversations.
